The Canadian dairy industry is spread over a vast area stretching over 5000 km from Newfoundland on the Atlantic coast to British Columbia on the Pacific coast. In this vast territory, 12,000 dairy farmers milk one million cows that produced 76.7 million hectoliters of milk in 2010. The dairy industry ranks third in the Canadian agriculture sector, after the grain and red meat industries, and generates 13.7 billion dollars (CAN) in sales.
