Professor Pamela Ruegg’s career in dairy veterinary medicine has been anything but linear. From treating cows in rural Wisconsin to research, teaching and consulting around the world, she has remained focused on improving dairy animal health and farm sustainability. Now at Michigan State University, her work centres on mastitis, antimicrobial stewardship and translating research into practical solutions for farmers and veterinarians.
