Milk Quality Experts Gather at the MSD European Mastitis Panel Meeting to Discuss Udder Health and Dairy Industry Challenges and Opportunities
RAHWAY, N.J., May 16, 2025 – On May 14, 2025, MSD Animal Health hosted the latest annual European Mastitis Panel (EMP) meeting in Nantes, France, bringing together EMP members—established experts in the field—and MSD technical services to discuss udder health and milk quality in dairy cattle.
The objectives of the EMP meetings are to improve udder health of dairy cows across EU countries while facilitating the exchange of dairy industry innovations and scientific information.

This year’s meeting featured discussions centered on a comprehensive overview of the dairy industry in the host country, France. Key topics included the utilization of monitoring technology to enhance milk quality, the current views on antimicrobial resistance, and effective antimicrobial treatments for intramammary infections. Notably, new monitoring tools for the dairy industry, including SenseHub Milk Sensors and SenseHub InLine Somatic Count Cell sensors, were presented during the meeting.
MSD Animal Health technical services, alongside EMP members, remain committed to addressing the challenges faced by the dairy cattle industry regarding mastitis and milk quality. The EMP aims to represent a diverse range of EU countries to enrich the quality of discussions and foster collaborative solutions.
