Acoustic pulse therapy offers new treatment option for mastitis

APT shown to boost milk production when used in healthy animals

Mastitis is one of the most important health issues in dairy cattle today, and one of the costliest. The most used tool for treating infections, reducing somatic cell count (SCC) and improving milk quality is antibiotics. There is great concern, however, that excessive use or misuse of antibiotics will lead to the development of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria. In fact, many believe antimicrobial resistance to be one of the greatest threats today. Limiting the use of antibiotics through the adoption of alternative treatments could help to prevent the development of resistance. In a recent interview, Gabriel Leitner, Chief Science Officer at Armenta, shared the results of his research into acoustic pulse technology, and offered insight into how the non-invasive treatment could be used to reduce inflammation, boost milk production, and limit the use of important antibiotics.
